Making a claim

Brief guide to a compensation claim

Here are the main steps in a successful claim. They will be the same in an illness or accident compensation claim.

Less than 2% of compensation claims come before a judge to decide. Usually it is possible to get compensation out of court.

  • An experienced solicitor listens to your story and advises you of your chances of winning your personal injury claim
  • You are seen in person and advised on the steps needed.
  • If you decide you want to proceed a letter is sent to the other party’s representative detailing your claim
  • A medical report is arranged for you. With your agreement a value on your claim
  • In most cases maximum compensation is won out of court. Less than 2% of compensation claims come before a judge
  • If the other party won’t pay, just starting court proceedings often succeeds
  • If justice still cannot be obtained for you (rare) a judge will decide
